Manchester United Europa League Failure Could See Trio Depart Old Trafford
Manchester United’s Europa League loss to Tottenham could be majorly catastrophic to the club on many levels this summer. Not only will United miss out on the Champions League but the clubs finances will be majorly impacted.
Despite INEOS buying into the club's ownership, the financial aspect of United is one that is deemed to be worrisome. United needed UCL football to help boost the clubs financial position ahead of what is a huge summer for the club.
The lack of ANY European football will give United a disadvantage in the transfer window as they aim to attract new talent to Old Trafford.
United may also be forced to sell some of their top talent as they look to balance their finances due to PSR. Three MAJOR stars could depart Old Trafford this summer, covering a range of reasons including finances and relationships with the manager.
Bruno Fernandes is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia and could be a sellable asset for United this summer. The midfielder hinted that his future may be elsewhere following United's loss in the Europa League final.
The United captain wants to be playing at the highest levels and winning trophies. Whilst United would lose arguably their best player post Sir Alex Ferguson, there is a chance for the club to make a large amount of cash this summer.
Alejandro Garnacho has hinted his future may lie elsewhere this summer as he commented on his lack of minutes during the Europa League final. The Argentinian has seemingly fallen down the pecking order at United under Ruben Amorim.
The chance of Garnacho departing United this summer is seemingly growing with the post match comments adding to the speculation about the players future.
Kobbie Mainoo only played two minutes in the Europa League final. A player that has been labelled as the future of United was handed minimal game time by Amorim despite the key role the midfielder has played for the club over the last 18 months.
Mainoo was the man of the match in last seasons FA Cup final and is now seemingly battling for his place in United’s starting 11. The Englishman has also been linked with a move away from Old Trafford due to the club needing to raise funds to combat PSR financial rules.
All three of these players would be a loss to United but factors both within and out of Amorim’s control could see any of these three depart the club in the transfer window.
Fans have a nervous summer ahead as the club has big decisions to make both on and off the pitch following the major failure of this season.
