Alejandro Garnacho Calls Out Lack Of Game Time In Manchester United Europa League Final Loss to Tottenham
Alejandro Garnacho has spoken to the press about his reaction to his lack of game time during Manchester United’s Europa League final loss to Tottenham.
The winger was brought on for only the final 20 minutes of the game. Fans were left surprised when he was named among the substitutes ahead of kick off.
The winger spoke to the Argentine press following the final whistle and appeared to hit back at comments made by Ruben Amorim in the managers press conference following the loss.
Garnacho has been linked with moves away from Old Trafford since last summer’s transfer window. The Argentine has seemingly fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford since the arrival of Amorim.
Minutes after the final whistle in Bilbao, Garnacho’s brother took to social media to voice his frustration with the lack of minutes Alejandro was given in the final. However, it was earlier comments made by Amorim that also raised eyebrows following United’s loss.
When asked if Garnacho should’ve started the game, Amorim replied to the press with;
"It's easy to say that now. Who missed the big opportunity in the first half in the semi-final? Garnacho. Football is like that."
A comment that has had a mixed reaction from fans on social media with some angry at the manager seemingly throwing Garnacho ‘under the bus’.
Garnacho then spoke to ESPN Argentina following the game, he said the following;
“I played every round to help the team reach the final, and today I only got 20 minutes… I don’t know. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.
This season was sh*t, losing the final and not beating anyone in the league.”
The comments made by Garnacho leave major question marks surrounding his future at Old Trafford with the winger alluding to ‘seeing what happens next’ in his interview with the media.
